Is Aadhaar Compulsory for continued operation of Bank Accounts in India for NRIs?

No

It is great confusion among the NRIs that Aadhaar may be needed to continue to operate their bank accounts in India after 31st December 2017. This has however been clarified by authorities that Aadhaar is not needed by NRIs for the continued operation of their bank accounts in India. This is a great relief to the NRIs.

However, NRIs must link their PERMANENT ACCOUNT NUMBER with their bank accounts.
